Happy New Year to all of you and your families. Maryann and I hope that 2025 brings you good health and prosperity.
Serving as an officer of any organization demands dedication and hard work. Mike Kelly has presided over MARCOM for three terms as President, so let me begin my tenure by thanking him and Sara for their service to our Club over those years. I’ve enjoyed working with Mike and plan to seek his counsel in the coming months to continue to implement the improvements he’s initiated at MARCOM. Thankfully, Sara is our new Treasurer, a crucial member of the officer team, so her work here continues.
Thanks also go out to other officers and chairpersons who have finished their terms. Steve Pyne retires as Treasurer after many years of service in that and the Secretary’s position. Long-time volunteer Chuck Marchewka leaves the Board of Directors this year. He has also served multiple terms as VP and President and will continue as editor of the newsletter. Kevin Schnyer retires as Secretary after three terms, but remains a Board Member. Ann O’Brien passes the Membership torch this year after serving multiple terms in that position. Each of these individuals deserve our gratitude for giving their talent and time to MARCOM.
One of the benefits of the Model A hobby stems from the many ways one can enjoy it. There are the technical aspects including restoration and maintenance, the historic aspects of the Ford Motor Company and the early automobile industry, collecting for those who enjoy finding and studying old cars and related artifacts, and the very important social aspect of getting together with people who share their enthusiasm through flea markets, meetings, tours, and events. This year we will endeavor to explore each of those aspects with Tech gatherings, Historical presentations, Tours and Events, and of course, lots of food and fun.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as your President for 2025. I promise to work hard to ensure we have a successful year. We’re fortunate to have a team of fine officers to help make that happen. Maryann and I look forward to seeing all of you at meetings and events throughout the year.
Regards,
Joe Amara
